This is the legend of "The Worlds Fastest Ice" and for Eli and I it's also
the worlds slip-pery-est ice. You see, we neither one know HOW to ice skate
but decide to go any-how. We made it around the oval rink once before Eli
suggested ( wisely) that we run the track instead.
This is one of my most favorite things to do. This long frozen winter , I ran
all my long runs up on the oval track. While skater from around the world
came in to compete, I watched the show while I ran . It is very motivating to
run next to a speed skater from Japan.
The track is state of the art cushy-soft and easy on your sore feet. It is
a constant 65 degrees and the perfect temp. The track is on the outside, The
speedskating oval next and in the center another rink and an ice hockey rink
that can get real loud. It's a 440 meter track that converts to 3 1/2 times
around equals 1 mile ( aprox ).
The Great Zamboni must cross the running track to reach the ice. I am going to
have a t-shirt made that say's - I can run faster than a Zamboni ! Because I can,
I can run faster than the Zamboni !
There is a funny sign on the track where the big garage door opens up and the
mighty Zamboni must cross and it reads, RUNNERS MUST YIELD TO THE ZAMBONI .
Now pardon my potty mouth, but NO SHEET SHERLOCK *!!*!!* That reminds me of the
Road-Runner and how he always managed to slip into a narrows crack in the side
of a mountain, while the WILE E. COYOTE hit it face on. Hard ! Flat like a Johnny
Cake and SLOWLY sliding down to the dirt.
